Garmin Vivoactive Review

Vivoactive is a multisport ultra-thin GPS smartwatch with a sunlight-readable, high-resolution color touchscreen. I have used this watch over a year and very happy with the performance.

If you compare your stats with other brands you may be upset because your friend will tell you he/she does 12k steps per day where you do 6k. The reality is most products in the market are easy to fool. It is hard to fool Garmin Vivoactive. if you are just shaking your hand it does not count any steps. This is a huge plus for me.

Pros:

  • Long battery life: If you set the sensors properly it can stretch up to 30 days of battery life. This is much better than having to charge every night.
  • Waterproof: 5 ATM is more than you need with this watch. I never take off my watch because of this feature.
  • Touch Screen: it works even under the shower.
  • Light weight: you almost do not feel the watch on your wrist.
  • Multisport: It tracks almost everything. I impressed a couple of friends with this watch when I started the golf activity. It gives great swimming stats as well.
  • Vibration Alerts: ┬áKeeps you in line with your goals. You can set silent alarms to wake up. Very convenient.
  • Find My Phone: This is one of the features you will start appreciating when you loose your phone for the first time. Even you leave your phone in silent mode, it will put the volume up, vibration on and your phone will lit up with all the lights on it.

Cons:

  • Touch screen is not too sensitive. This is not a big deal but sometimes the response time is too slow.
  • Screen resolution is not as high as other products in┬áthe market.
  • First time setting up with an Android device was a bit challenging. Average user might get frustrated easily.

Features:

  • Ultra-thin and lightweight design offers optimal comfort
  • High resolution colour touchscreen display can be read clearly under direct sunlight
  • 4GB internal memory gives you plenty of space to store your data
  • Wirelessly connects to your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth technology
  • Use on its own or pair with your smartphone to receive gentle alerts for incoming calls, texts, emails, and notifications from social media apps

  • Water resistant to up to 50 metres so you can sweat, swim, and shower with it on

Companion Apps:

  • Equipped with built-in GPS-enabled running, biking, golfing, swimming, and other activity tracking apps
  • Garmin Connect app lets you track your progress and earn virtual badges to keep you engaged and motivated
