SharePoint Taks List Sync with Outlook

SharePoint has the capability to sync your taks list with your Outlook. This is a very useful feature if you use both Outlook and SharePoint to manage your tasks.

Activating this feature is pretty simple:

  1. Go to the task list
  2. Under the List tab, click on Connect to Outlook.
  3. Outlook will prompt the message below:
“You should only connect lists from sources you know and trust.”
    Click on Yes.
  4. In Outlook, the tasks list will appear under Other Tasks in the Tasks section of the Navigation Pane.

Possible Problems:

If your AD user account is under group policy and the GP is preventing you to create a new PST file you will get the error message below:

Outlook cannot add the folder because creating a new Outlook data file (.pst) file isn’t allowed on this computer

  1. Disable GPO “prevent users from adding PSTs to Outlook profiles and(or prevent….” And then test again after running gpupdate.

  2. If you do not have Active Directory Admin rights but have local Administrator rights on your computer, you can update the bleow RegKey value to 0 (zero)
